New lab report format supports faster clinical decisions

IDEXX Reference Laboratories is introducing improved reports that highlight important information at a glance

 

Key enhancements to emailed and faxed reports

  • New header format with patient species icon and patient name in red on emailed reports
  • Abnormal values and high/low indicators (H/L) appear in red on emailed reports.
  • Speed bars provide a visual aid for evaluation of results
     
  • The IDEXX SDMA Test result displays above creatinine
  • Urinalysis with Urine Culture results consolidated into a single report (currently received on separate reports)
  • Batch 4Dx Plus results grouped by patient vs. by individual test
     

Highlights of enhancements by report type

  • New header format with patient species icon and patient name in red on emailed reports (applies to all report types)
  • Abnormal values and high/low indicators (H/L) appear in red on emailed reports
  • Speed bars provide a visual aid for evaluation of results
  • The IDEXX SDMA Test result displays above creatinine
     
  • Antibiogram in enhanced table format with borders, making it easier to interpret and compare antibiotic susceptibilities across organisms
  • Interpretation (S, I, R) placed to the left of MIC information
  • Antibiotics indicated as sensitive for all identified bacteria appear in bold type
  • Urinalysis with Urine Culture results consolidated into a single report (currently received on separate reports)
  • Results organized by patient, then by test (currently by test, then by patient)
  • Clinical information clearly organized into specific sections for Cytology Source and Clinical History
  • If ordering electronically within an integrated practice information management software (through VetConnect PLUS), or online on vetconnectplus.ca, clinical history information appears verbatim as entered. With these types of orders, this information flows to the report directly from the electronic requisition and no longer needs to be retyped by our laboratory staff.
     
  • Clinical information clearly organized into specific sections for Biopsy Source, Biopsy Type and Clinical History
  • If ordering electronically within an integrated practice information management software (through VetConnect PLUS), or online on vetconnectplus.ca, clinical history information appears verbatim as entered. With these types of orders, this information flows to the report directly from the electronic requisition and no longer needs to be retyped by our laboratory staff.
  • More compact, two-column format
  • Significant values (relative to the interpretive score) are indicated with an “H” marker to the left of the allergen name and appear in red on emailed reports
  • Speed bars provide a visual aid for evaluation of results
  • No delay for receipt of the suggested immunotherapy formulation: the order form will now be included as part of the results report
